Wheel alignment — often called 'tracking' — sets your wheels to the angles your manufacturer specifies. It's an easy thing to overlook, but it affects everything from tyre life to how the car feels on the motorway.

Signs your alignment is out

The most common giveaway is the car pulling gently to one side even with your hands off the wheel, or the steering wheel sitting slightly off-centre when driving in a straight line. Uneven or 'feathered' wear across a tyre's tread, and a faint vibration through the wheel at speed, are also classic signs.

What causes it

Alignment shifts gradually with normal driving, but it's usually knocked out suddenly by hitting a pothole or kerb hard, a heavy impact in a car park, or after suspension work. New tyres are also a good natural checkpoint, since incorrect alignment will wear a brand new set unevenly within a few thousand miles.

We measure the toe and camber angles against your vehicle manufacturer's specification and adjust to bring them back in range. Where the car is fitted for it, we check all four wheels rather than just the front pair.
