Brakes you can trust again
Brakes are one of the most common reasons cars fail their MOT, and because we’re a DVSA-approved test centre, we see worn pads and discs every day. We put your car on the ramp, measure what’s left and tell you honestly what needs doing now and what can wait.
If your car has just failed its MOT on brakes, we can usually fix it and retest it here the same day. You pay when the work is done, never before.
Signs you need brake repairs
-
Squealing, grinding or scraping when you brake
-
The car takes longer to stop than it used to
-
Vibration through the steering wheel or pedal
-
A soft or spongy brake pedal
-
The car pulls to one side under braking
-
A brake or ABS warning light
-
The handbrake doesn’t hold on a slope
-
Heavy black dust on one wheel
What we do
Brake pads and discs
We measure pad material and disc thickness against the manufacturer's minimum, and replace them in axle sets so the car brakes evenly.

Callipers, hoses and pipes
A sticking calliper causes uneven wear, pulling and heat. We free off or replace callipers, and replace perished brake hoses and corroded pipes.
Brake fluid change
Brake fluid absorbs moisture, which makes the pedal soft under hard braking. Most manufacturers recommend changing it every two years.

Frequently asked questions
How do I know if my brake pads need replacing?
Noise, a warning light or longer stopping distances are common signs, but the only sure way is to measure the pad material. We check this on every service, or as a quick check on its own.
Do I need new discs every time I replace pads?
No. We measure the discs. If they're above the minimum thickness and not badly scored or rusted, new pads alone are fine.
My car failed its MOT on brakes. Can you fix and retest it?
Yes. We’re a DVSA-approved MOT test centre, so we can repair the brakes and retest the car here, usually the same day. Bring your MOT failure sheet or send us a photo on WhatsApp.
How long does a brake job take?
Pads on one axle usually take about an hour; pads and discs about 1.5–2 hours. Most brake work is done the same day.
Is it safe to drive with the brake warning light on?
A red brake light can mean low fluid or a hydraulic fault — stop when safe and call us. An amber ABS light means normal braking works but ABS may not; book in soon.
Do I have to pay before the work is done?
No. We confirm the price with you first and you pay when the job is finished. No card details are needed online.
